Scout Camp 2019

Cold Air, dark nights, warm fire, bright stars. The 6th Annual Camp for the Scouts and Guides of Don Bosco School, Silchar was held at 147 Battalion, CRPF, Kashipur from 22nd to 26th March 2019. The Camp Chief was Rev. Fr. Nelson Joseph, the Principal. He was assisted by 7 teachers namely Mr. Ivan, Mr. Suman, Mr. Mathew, Mr. Rajdeep, Madam Santoshree, Madam Mili and Madam Brinda There were 88 scouts and 38 guides altogether. The scouts were divided into 9 patrols and the Guides into 4 patrols. Every day the campers and the animators began the day with the morning exercise known as BP’s six which was followed by prayer, inspection and flag break. All the campers kept their tents and their surroundings clean. Many new skills were learnt like knots, lashings, signals etc. The most entertaining items were the claps, yells and action songs. Everyone enjoyed a lot. Lots of games were played like plucking the tail, unity walk, deer sticking etc. These games taught us many values like co-operation, team spirit and most importantly unity. The competitions that were held round the clock made the camp life more interesting. Many gadgets were prepared by different patrols for their daily use by availing the natural products like rope, bamboos etc. Every night campfire was conducted and each patrol performed an item. On the last day, the scouts and guides had many adventure activities like Balance walk, Commando crossing, Rope way, Rope climbing, Wriggle through tyres etc. On the whole, during the annual camp, we were able to strengthen our bonds as friends and made new friends as well. We learnt to live under the open sky and even when the weather conditions were extremely cold and raining. We express our gratitude to all the non teaching staff for the delicious food and Sir Bikram and his team for the various arrangements. A special thanks to Fr. Nelson and the teachers who gave us the wonderful opportunity to develop the leadership qualities in ourselves and who assisted us to live our life in the open air, to be one with nature. We spent amazing days at the campsite. We learnt to be strong, creative and adventurous. It was a fun-filled life learning experience for all. We are extremely grateful to Mr. Tapan Kumar, the commandant, all the officers of different ranks and jawans of 147 Battalion, CRPF, Kashipur for their generous assistance and for all the arrangements they have made to make our life safe and secure. The Bosco family will always cherish with gratitude their magnanimous contribution.
