Parents’ Day 2020

Don Bosco School, Silchar started its journey way back in 2006 on 31stJanuary, the Feast Day of our Father and Founder St. John Bosco. Since then, this day is dedicated to our Parents and celebrated as Parents’ Day. This year the Parents’ Day was organized on 30thJanuary 2020 for Class Nursery to Class IV and on 31st January 2020 for Classes V to XII. This mega event is also a way to express our appreciation to the thousands of parents for the commitment they portray towards their children and our gratitude for placing their trust in us. The days were enveloped with grandeur and entertainment with a kaleidoscope of items of various genres. On 30th January the little buddies of classes Nursery to IV performed various items on stage which was a great connate show. The parents and guests were highly appreciative of the programme. On this day, Lt. Col. SumitRastogi, the Commandant, Maintenance Group, Assam Rifles graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Adv. SubhrenduShekhar Bhattacharya of the Supreme Court of India as the Guest of Honour.

31stJanuary 2020 once again witnessed a colourful and multifarious array of events. The Chief Guest for the day was Most Rev. Bishop Stephen Rotluanga, the Bishop of Aizawl Diocese and the Guests of Honourwere Rev. Fr. Joachim Walder, the Episcopal Vicar of Barak Valley andRev.Fr.GeorgeMaliekal, the former Provincial of Shillong Province. The other dignitaries present were Rev. Fr. Nelson Joseph, theRector and Principal, Rev. Fr. SurjitTigga, the Vice Principal, Rev. Br. Regy Joseph, the Manager, Rev. Br. BoscoEkka, the Assistant Manager, fathers, sisters from Barak Valley, the Commandants of Military and Paramilitary forces etc. The captivating and colourfulprogrammeincluded dances from different countries like Japan, China, Spain, Portugal, Nepal, etc. It also included the aroma of our motherland with the Bengali folk song, Bharat Natyam, Bengali modern and folk dances, Manipuri Dance, Rajasthani Dance, Bihu Dance, ShivaTandava etc. The theme dance entitled ‘Down the Memory Lane’ projected the life of an old woman from childhood to oldage. The event left an indelible imprint on the hearts and minds of all the people. The programme ended with the words of gratitude by Madam HasnaLaskar and an assurance of quality education to the society.
